the greatest show on earth...

Hannah went with a friend and loved it. I guess she does not remember that last time we went to the circus. She said it smelled bad and did not want to return.

All these images are taken by Miss H.

table for four please...

Hannah's friend Brittany is staying with us this week. A real treat for Hannah, having another kid around all the time.

Brittany's grandfather had a stroke last weekend, so her parents drove to upstate NY to deal with his hospitalization. So Brittany is here with us. Not a big deal. Her parents asked if I could take 2 girls....but I figured one extra was enough. Plus, I don't know the other one well, she goes to a different school and Brit and her sister fight alot. Alot.

photo challenge - technology...

This week's photo challenge is technology.
I was playing with themes for my iGoogle page and decided that even though I love technology and gadgets, I really really really love google. I have my iGoogle set to automatically download posts from websites and blogs I like to stay up with. Plus my gmail, weather, calender, to do list and more.

snow...

They are calling for snow for the first time this winter. That means our schedule of off on Monday, school Tues & Wed then off Thurs and Fri will be messed up. As if that is not messed up enough already.

Hmpf.

But if it snows...that means something to take a picture of.
Stay tuned.

shoot the moon...

Saturday night was a full moon - supposedly a large one. But it was cloudy here - no moon to see.

Sunday night, it was pretty cloudy but they were at least broken up. Hannah called down to me at about 8:30pm that the moon was showing. I ran down, set my camera settings for "moon shots" , ran outside and got a black screen. So I increased my shutter time and then decided - lets see what camera auto will do.

This is what I got - pretty cool huh?:

Okay, so I finished watching 24 and about 10pm noticed that the sky had cleared up. Took the camera out and NOW the initial settings were working. I needed a brighter moon in the sky to get the detail at my settings. So here is the moon, a day after full at 1030pm on Jan 11, 2009.

Settings were f/8, Shutter speed 1/125, White balance - daylight, meter: center and ISO of 200.

time for a change...

I am enjoying posting larger images on my blog.
So me thinks I am going to change this up and get rid of my sidebar
<--------------
<--------------
<--------------
and be able to go a tad bigger.

So my images instead of looking like this:

Will be more like this (or bigger):

So, don't be confused if there are some changes in the look pretty soon. And Mom, that means you.

ready...set...sew

I am starting a new photo challenge.
The theme this week was shoot something that means ready-set-go.
I figured this pile of fabric that is to be made into curtins and has been sitting on my cutting table for OVER ONE YEAR NOW would be a good place to start.
