Last weekend we took Hannah to camp to visit - it will be a new camp for her this year. We took her cousin Rachel with us since they are going together for the week in July. They look so similar...
And here is the cabin they will be gunning for....
Fathers Day on the lake - and look, we gained a child!
My favorite pictures though - the two of them get along so well!

daily photo...
of the rain..tuesday evening while sitting at Hannah's school. She was at band camp from 6-7:30pm which is really not enough time to go home and return so I planned on walking the track. Instead I sat in the car and took pictures of the rain....

the end of 7th grade...
Hannah allowed me to take a picture as she was heading out to the bus...as long as I was done before the bus showed up....she even smiled. I guess you can smile when it is the last day of school...

the next to last day of 7th grade...
and there was a band concert/awards ceremony so I went to school at 1:30 to watch Hannah play then bring her on home.
First I must mention that the air conditioning in the school gym broke at noon today so it was not pretty. Well, it was hot and smelly.
The program started with school wide awards and recognitions. It ended up (unknow to me and hannah) that the county gave awards to the 3 kids that got state recognition from the DUKE TIP program. Hannah about ran up and back - she had on white pants with a stain from lunch (go figure!) and thought everyone was staring at the stain.... anyway, she hustled right thru but I managed to get a terrible photo:
The band finally played.
And of course, pretty quickly I got the evil "stop taking photos" look.

totally random photos...
Totally random today....
Hannah has been wanting to spike Chris' hair for ages. So earlier in the week, she pulled out all my gels and found some nice gooey sticky stuff and had a ball. Chris said "don't use anything that is stinky so I can sleep on it". Ha. No way could he go to bed with all this stuff in his hair.
Whattyathink - Sid Vicious or Edwards Scissorhands?
BTW - that man is such a good sport!
I love these shoes. They go with nothing I own which means they go with eveything, right? So when i wear them I am fashionably mismatched. Today, white pants and blue shirt and my ORANGE shoes.
For some reason they make me happy....
And finally, this weather is back. Yes, that is rain, pouring rain out there. Hmpf.

1 birthday girl + 7 friends = happy 13th
We had H's 13th party this past weekend. A little early but since she will be gone on her birthday we decided to go early and hold it while kids were still in school and hopefully could come. She invited 7 girls for dinner, playing at the dock then an "all nighter" in basement.
I tried to let Hannah really call the shots on this one. She wanted hambugers, chips and fruit for dinner. Then cake. Then lots of caffinated drinks, cupcakes, cheetos, pretzels, m&ms, jelly beans and dum dums for snacks in the basement.
Okay, so it was. The night started off with swimming and playing. Once again, the water trampoline got the action!
The neighbors had a paddle boat wash ashore so they let us borrow it. Seven girls was about 5 too many. It may look like they are moving but they are not. We had them jump off till only 2 remained and then they could paddle around. This was a blast - for about 15 minutes.
Eating dinner - who needs tables and chairs????
With 6 of the 7 guests (number 7 arrived at 9pm) getting ready for cake
A close up of the polka dot cake - can you tell we made it ourselves (LOL)
After swimming, dinner and cake at the dock, the girls went to the house and down to the basement. Here they played games, watched movies and ate snacks. There were some lound excursions outside with silly string....i am sure the neighbors loved us. This went on into the wee hours of the morning. Chris and I were not allowed down there except for random safety patrols.
At one point, I went down and the girls all had tissue papper on their heads and Hannah was opening her presents. They were all laughing and giggling and having fun - AND WITHOUT US. Chris and I were crushed - we are no longer needed at birthdays.
We let them have their fun and Chris and I went to bed at 12:30 - with the sounds of Get Smart blasting thru the surround sound...
The next morning, in the basement, about 7am....
We hope it was lots of fun...but according to Hannah, it was a big success!
