a photo field trip

Our local photo club (Lincoln Photography Club) had a field trip last Sunday to some historical sites on the eastern end of the county.

We visited Machpelah Church (which was opened for us to go in - very rare!) then the Mariposa Bridge then the Round Barn (again we were given permission to enter) and we ended up at Vesuvius where it was getting late and I only took a few shots before hopping back in the car and heading home.

Editing it down to only one from each location.....

tuesday 040602

on Tuesday H and I went to Montreat, Black Mountain, and Asheville for a day trip. We could have just stayed in Black Mountain and Montreat, exploring the area, but H wanted to eat at the Mellow Mushroom.

Here she is - waiting for her Funky-Q chicken pizza

Lincolnton Art Crawl 3.19.10

I know I am late with these...I posted them on facebook but thought I'd also post them here for the 3-4 people that read this blog...

A friend had access to a vacant building in Lincolnton, invited about 10 artists to participate and created an absolutely wonderful artsy showing for the art crawl.

Here is a walkthru just moments before opening the doors!

As you enter - on the left - Holly putting the finishing touches on her booth:

Straight ahead was Kae and Dene's work filling the walls:

Turning to the left was me:

Looking back at my booth:

Across from my booth was Emmett Poole's metalwork - loved, loved, loved his stuff!

Going on was Leigh Ann's then Warren and Stephen.

Janettes flowers and garden booth

Turning to the Right was JR and Lara

Then the food, it was great.

And ending back looking at the front door with Dene and Kae's work.

I am too lazy to resize all of these. You can get the idea. It all looked just fantastic!

04.02.2010

I think we skipped spring and went straight to this:

And Miss H comes home from school and does this:

Spring break has officially started.
We are not going away but doing something new everyday next week.
Getting up, heading out, exploring.

brown...

March color challenge is brown.

I am tired of brown.

Looking for some green and yellow.

Yes, yellow = forsythia = spring.

But here is some boring ol' brown....

black boards

I had a show this past weekend in Mooresville - Unique Creations. Kinda slow. But I made lots of contacts.
My booth was an 8x10 which is about 2 feet smaller than normal. But I was able to use my display boards...

remember them?
But I've painted 2 black and one red. Here are the black ones...

I am very happy with how they looked. But I think I need a 3rd one to make it more of a wall. And another red to put back to back so you can see images coming both ways.

I also found something I really like - display graphics that are vertical and be broken down into pieces.

But mine cost me about $12 each, these are $90 each. So for now, I will stick to my homemade ones!

moonlit

Came home the other night...cold....huge moon shining on the lake.

I grabbed the camera and headed outside. But it was too cold to go further than the driveway. And I was too lazy to grab the tripod to get a decent shot.

So I got this....

plus about 20 really really blurry ones. Like this....

Next time - tripod!
