Montana - the elk (yellowstone)

I am getting ready to post the Yellowstone pictures from our trip to Montana. But the elk story belongs by itself.

On our first day - actually first minutes - in Yellowstone we came across cars parked on the side of the road and people staring at this elk. Kris says - is that a baby, is that an umbilical cord?? I hop out of the car, look thru my 300mm lens. Nope, no baby. Do you see a baby here???

So off we go.
About 4 or 5 hours later, we are exiting the Park and see the same elk in the same spot.
Chris says "I see baby ears". Once again we pull over and we see this.

A Brand spanking new baby elk.

Wow.

So lets go back to that original image. Now that we KNOW we are looking for a baby elk and.......lookee here, is that a newborn baby??

Kris and Chris became our animal spotters for the rest of the trip!
